Acceptance of Flexible and Remote Working

Too many employers require their workers to be onsite at all times, instead of being able to work remotely at least some of the time

This is possible and pratical in many job roles, especially within the digital industry but is discouraged by old-school management practices

Would be great to encourage more employers to do this (outside of current COVID necessity)

Why the contribution is important

There are so many benefits to allowing flexible and remote working eg

  • women get to participate since they can better juggle other responsibilities (yes! women still do most of the housework and child-minding!)
  • traffic on the roads is smoothed when everyone can start / finish at different times - reduce peak loads and gridlock
  • better work / life balance

This also enables workers to spread out across the country by working remotely and not necessarily live in the same location as the business that they work for, which would help support the economic growth in the regions.
