Support for small Businesses - Cyber Security Business connect and Protect Program
There is a need to provide actionable advice to small businesses on how to secure themselves from cyber threats. Helping their business processes to asses their maturity based on self assessment questionnaires. Helping them uplift their maturity level. Although CertNZ provides guidance for post incident, but there is a need to have an awareness campaign about the importance of adherence to web security standards and due diligence to protect against phising and ransomware attacks.
Why the contribution is important
Covid-19 has changed the way businesses sell their products. Small businesses started selling their products online but the downside is the sharp rise in cyber attacks on SMEs. A CertNZ report shows victims of these cyber attacks were due to non-patched web applications, weak passwords, and general cyber hygiene. The report reveals that over 60% of small businesses had no awareness about securing them because their main focus was selling products and cash flows.
