Digital Public Infrastructure for Aotearoa NZ

Develop and make publicly available the digital equivalent of public infrastructure, not just to improve public services to the public and create a public sector that is digitally innovative, but to digital infrastructure people can trust and rely upon to democratise the creation of new value in the digital economy, and to interoperate with self-sovereign systems developed by the community.

Why the contribution is important

Without digital public infrastrucutre, everyone has to start from scratch, so you lose the economies of scale that govt can bring. We don't ask everyone to build roads to their houses, or lay pipes or electricity every time they buy a house. Why do we put this barrier to digital innovation?

    NZ needs to invest in national infrastructures to manage the dissemination of publicly funded research data generated by Callahan, CRIs, Universities and Independent research organisations that receive government funding.

    Agree with @piaandrews that providing digital infrastructure to enable greater ease of i.e. digital ID verification or access to permission-based data would mitigate many companies and people doing one activity and encourage different activities to be considered and achieved. Let's focus on our strengths of ingenuity and innovation rather than using resources to compete on something that everyone knows everyone else is doing.
